Getting to know ate Remedios. The owner of “Baby’s Eatery”

Me and Marie sounds funny acting like an interviewer here heheheh…I’m so glad that ate Remedios and all her staff are so kind to let us take a video inside their nice eatery.  Sharing their life in America and how she become successful  in her business.  Her business is been here for 20 years now. She told us, at first it wasn’t easy. She started it by herself alone. She said that a friend of her told her that “you won’t make money if you're just working as an employee”. “Why don’t you start to have your own food business?” So that’s where she started.

If you happen to be around daly city or in mission street San Francisco please visit her eatery. Their food taste good and is very affordable compare to goldilocks. You can buy 5 pcs of lumpia shanghai for $1. That’s what I always buy from them after my work. They have a variety of Filipino dishes everyday from sinigang, kare-kare, adobo, afretada, pretong isda ang many more plus a free soup when you eat there! By the way we only payed $9.50 for the 2 cups of rice, pancit, and dinuguan that we order! Not really bad for two people plus we had free soup!

Me and Marie goofying around at the asian market and side walk vendor!

After we ate at “baby’s eatery”  Marie wanted  to check out this asian store.  Actually I’ve been here many times to buy meats and fish.  It’s really hard for me to find a fresh sea food in safeway or lucky store, if they do, it’s going to be expensive.  So I always get my meats and sea foods in the asian store because of the variety and affordability. Last time, I bought a fresh salmon head and salmon belly. When I went home I made a spicy salmon head soup and fried salmon belly with rice! So delicious! This is what I missed in the Philippines, because I can’t always eat fish here. My husband would complain about the smell especially when I cooked dried fish! But I’m still grateful I live here in Daly City! I don’t feel so homesick.

As you see in the video. There are lots of Filipinos in this area especially Daly City.  Actually, you can always eat the food that you missed in the Philippines here, because; there are lots of Filipino grocery stores and restaurants. Like the Philippines, you can also see lots of Chinese vendors. It reminds me of divisoria in manila and colon in cebu city.
